What to look out for

It has been revealed that the UK list of coronavirus symptoms may dismissive of individuals who actually have the virus.

The NHS online symptom checker, in comparison to other countries like France and South Korea may be misleading the public to ignore mild and moderate symptoms of the disease and therefore underestimating the risk, experts have now revealed.

The three COVID-19 symptoms are as follows:

  • High temperature
  • Dry cough
  • Shortness of breath

However, upon taking the symptom quiz, if none of the above apply to you then you are unlikely to be experiencing signs of the infection.

In contrast to other governments, like France there is more severe analysis being done. For example, France’s online tool enlists 23 questions, which include asking the sufferer if they have a sore throat, loss of smell and taste, fatigue and aches and pains.

If the person responding to these questions has any of the above then they are encouraged to monitor their condition and limit their contact with other individuals. Click here to compare the symptoms against the common cold and flu.

Jonathon Ball, professor of molecular biology at the University of Nottingham declared “When you look at the medical reports describing how cases are presenting, particularly mild infections, coronavirus patients clearly have cold-like symptoms.”

The World Health Organisation has made clear from the beginning that those experiencing shortness of breath are only in the severe cases.
